Clark Solutions signs partnership with IPEN to develop national technology for alkaline electrolyzers

Clark Solutions, a specialist in process engineering solutions for the national industry, has announced a strategic partnership with the Center for Fuel Cells and Hydrogen (CECCO), a research center of the Institute for Energy and Nuclear Research (IPEN), to develop national technology for alkaline electrolyzers. The initiative is in line with the guidelines of the incipient National Hydrogen Plan (PNH2) and reinforces the company’s commitment to innovation and Brazil’s technological independence in the energy sector of the future.

Alkaline electrolysers will play a key role in the production of green hydrogen, a strategic energy alternative for industrial decarbonization and the transition to a sustainable economy. Currently, Brazil relies on imported technologies to make this production viable on a large scale. With this partnership, Clark Solutions seeks to fill this gap by developing solutions that reduce the need for imports and strengthen the national industry.

“We believe that investing in research and development is essential to strengthening Brazilian industry and making it more competitive on the global stage. Green hydrogen represents a great opportunity, and we want to actively contribute to building this new production chain in the country,” says Breno Avancini, Research and Development Manager at Clark Solutions.

The PNH2, structured by the federal government, establishes a strategic plan for consolidating the hydrogen chain in Brazil, with clear goals for the coming years. The initial focus is on creating hydrogen hubs by 2030, bringing together infrastructure, production and consumption in strategic centers to enable the adoption of the technology. Based on this development, the plan aims to reach industrial scale by 2050, guaranteeing Brazil’s competitiveness in the global market. For this to happen, the nationalization of technologies, such as alkaline electrolysers, is essential, making partnerships between companies and research centers, such as the one signed between Clark Solutions and IPEN, a fundamental step towards advancing the sector.

With this initiative, Clark Solutions reaffirms its commitment to national engineering, developing innovative and accessible solutions that strengthen the industry and position Brazil as a relevant player in the green hydrogen market.
